Phishing Attacks
It has been reported by Indian Banks Association [IBA] that a phishing attack is attempted using a fake IBA site with messages being received through e-mail reading as follows:
“Indian Bank’s Association provides an additional layer of security for online purchases by helping to prevent unauthorized individuals from using your ATM card to buy online”
The mail also says “To identify yourself, please click on the link below and follow the simple step!
http://www.iba.org.in/startpage.asp ”
The link takes an unsuspecting customer to the fake site which would seek confidential account related details.
Customers of the Bank shall take due care to understand the general modus operandi of phishing attacks and shall note not to divulge any sensitive account related information through e-mails, phone calls, fake websites used in phishing attacks etc.. Please note that such unauthorized disclosure of account related details will be utilized by the fraudsters to their advantage and as such all caution and prudence shall be exercised in such instances.
